Police say Henderson was mad after his children got wet during an apartment complex water fight.

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake City man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a neighbor Saturday night.

Police responded to the 500 block of Southwest Windsong Circle after 30-year-old Eldredge Henderson allegedly approached a group of people talking in a breezeway and opened fire, according to a release form the Lake City Police Department. Henderson struck a woman in both legs and several vehicles, the release detailed. The female victim was transported to a Gainesville hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Henderson was identified by neighbors who told police he fled the scene and was hiding inside a nearby apartment. Henderson was taken into custody after a brief a standoff with officers from the Lake City Police Department and deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. A Tec-9 semi-automatic 9mm handgun was also recovered.

Investigators later determined the shooting stemmed from an April 29 incident involving children at the apartment complex having a water fight where Henderson's children accidently got wet, according to the LCPD.

Henderson is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, firing weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and is currently being held at the Columbia County Detention Center without bond.
