JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A couple who ran over 2-year-old Janya Solomon in 2013 plead guilty Wednesday to the toddler's hit-and-run death.
Serdarus Miguel Scott, 35, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving with a suspended license. He is also a convicted felon.
Ariel Alexis Siplin faces charges of being an accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence, according to a release from the state attorney's office.
Officals say, Scott hit Solomon with his vehicle in front of her Ring Lane home. He then stopped, got out of his vehicle and told Siplin, his girlfriend, to drive the vehicle.
Siplin left the scene in the vehicle while Scott fled the scene on foot.
Later, Scott got back in the vehicle and the two went into hiding until they were captured days later.
Scott faces 35 years in prison and Siplin faces up to 20 years.
They are scheduled to be sentenced the week of July 14.
