UPDATE, 2/8/14: New information has surfaced in the closing of Whisky River Jacksonville.
According a lawsuit filed in Duval County Circuit court, Whisky River in the Town Center was shut down because rent wasn't paid by the company for months.
According to the filing, the restaurant owed more than $140,000 dollars in rent as of January.
The landlord closed the restaurant's doors on January 17. At the time, representatives for the owners of the restaurant said they had decided to close the restaurant.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News has confirmed that Whisky River Jacksonville at the St. Johns Town Center has closed its doors.
Employees who reported to work on Friday were greeted by locked doors, the location's website bears a message that says "Whisky River Jacksonville has closed" and the director of communications at JR Motorsports, confirmed that the location has closed. JR Motorsports is NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s company.
A statement to sent to Whisky River employees obtained by First Coast News said:
"By now you may have heard that we are closed. I want to personally thank you for everything that you have done for me and for WR (Whisky River). I will be getting payroll when it comes in and holding it Librettos/Suite. Tonight you are all welcome to come and hear DJ Irie at Suite and enjoy come complimentary cocktails for Suite's anniversary party.The mngr at Suite/Blackfinn have been told you may come looking for work and will do what they can to accommodate you. Your employee discounts will continue to be valid at both places. If you need a recommendation, don't hesitate to ask.Thank you again, Slim"
A statement from Bar Management Group, who was managing the restaurant owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. said, "After four years, the management company behind Whisky River Jacksonville has decided to close this location, and is working with the landlord with respect to its closing."
First Coast News requested a statement from Genesis Real Estate Advisers, LLC, the property management company that handles the Markets at Town Center.
Whisky River's Twitter account was still actively promoting their upcoming Zombie Party Saturday night featuring The Walking Dead star Travis Love. According to Twitter, the bar sold VIP tables for the now canceled event. The bar also launched a grand opening of "Marquee Thursdays" on Jan. 16, described as the, "biggest college night to hit Jacksonville."
An employee of the restaurant told First Coast News' Keitha Nelson that she received her final paycheck from Whisky River Friday.
Now that a local restaurant and bar has closed -many who bought tickets in advance for upcoming events want answers.
Whisky River cancelled a Zombie Party event with special guest Travis Love from AMC's "The Walking Dead" planned for Saturday at 10 p.m.Public relations personnel say there were no tickets pre-sold for the event.
But tickets were pre-sold for a '50 shades of men' event February 7 and the WAPE "Bitter Ball" with Brody Jenner on February 8.
Those events have now been moved to Suite at the St. Johns Town Center.
Customers who bought tickets are being contacted and will be given the option to attend the event at Suite or be reimbursed.
