JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A judge granted the motion for a mental health evaluation for James Tadros.

Tadros' attorney says his client has a history of mental illness and the evaluation is part of procedure.

The next court date for Tadros, 29, is schedule for October 30.

Tadros faces several felony charges stemming from the beating of a 9-year-old girl on August 23 at Best Buy on Southside Boulevard. His charges include attempted murder, false imprisonment and criminal mischief of less than $1,000 or interruption of business or utilities.
