Update: The St. Augustine Police Department has identified the victim who was killed Saturday night in front of a St. Augustine night club as Grace Janice Wieczorek, 45, from Ormond Beach.
Wieczorek was struck by a 2007 gray Honda Mini-van, according to SAPD.
The van was driven by a St. Augustine woman who remained on scene and spoke with officers as they conducted their investigation.
The driver of the van voluntarily gave her blood at the hospital as part of the investigation. The van was towed to the St. Augustine Police impound yard for further investigation.
Chris Stevens said he was at The Standard Saturday night with friends when he saw something tragic.
"Never watched anybody die right in front of me," he said. "I saw her make a little bit of a side-step where she was trying to avoid, and she just got hit," Stevens said.
Stevens described where he said the woman was located when she was hit.
"I saw the bumper hit her in her left knee. And her feet folded underneath the bumper," Stevens said. "Her body just folded over onto the hood and just catapulted. The lady obviously stopped."
Police said the driver cooperated with police and that there were several witnesses. Stevens said he was one of them.
"All I know is that the lady said she didn't see her," Stevens said.
Stevens said several people rushed to help the woman after she was hit. Police said the woman was taken to Flagler Hospital, where she died.
"We appreciate every single person that was there," Stevens said "It's just unfortunate and it's a tragedy."
Stevens said his thoughts are with the victim, whom he does not know.
"I'm sorry for your loss. It's a terrible thing that happened. I'm sad that I had to witness it," he said. "Like my friend said last night, life is short. It could be 60 seconds or 60 years. You never know what's going to happen. So, I hope she was having the time of her life."
An employee of The Standard told FCN they cannot comment on the incident.
A 45-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a car in St. Augustine Saturday night.

Samson said there were several witnesses standing outside the club when it happened.
