JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 56-year-old man riding a moped on Main Street is said to be in critical condition, after police say he was hit by a truck.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the truck driver was making a left-hand turn onto Winona Drive shortly after 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon when he hit the man on the moped.

North bound lanes of Main street were diverted onto 35th street.

Speeds are unknown and charges are pending, JSO says. The other driver is cooperating with the investigation.

No helmet was being worn by the driver of the moped.
