JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Eight fire trucks rushed to a large house fire just off Normandy Boulevard Saturday morning.

The blaze was extinguished by crews from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, but not before the abandoned tin roof home was destroyed.

JFRD said the fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire and no injures were reported, according to JFRD. Lanes on Normandy Boulevard near Stratton Road were shut down for hours while crews cleared the scene.

A total of eight fire trucks, two rescue vehicles and five police cars responded to the fire around 10 a.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown, according to JFRD.
