JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Glo Smith, a candidate for the District 5 Congressional seat, says she's trying to move part what some call an act of hatred.
"We've gad some yard signs stolen which is to be expected, but to have it defaced is something different," she said.
Over the weekend, the African-American candidate noticed a sign where someone spray painted her face white.
"Personally it was hurtful," she says.
Despite the vandalism, she says she's using it as motivation.
"It's that one thing I need to keep going," she said.
Smith says she's forgiven whoever vandalized her signs.
"I would hope their hearts would be touched and changed and they would realize not only did they break the law, but they'll think twice before doing it again," she said.
