JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two people were hospitalized early Sunday after their car bumped into a guardrail on Interstate 95 and crashed into a concrete barrier, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A Kia Spectra driven by 21-year-old Shaterrel Boyd and carrying 20-year-old Jeremy Brooks, both of Jacksonville, was heading north on I-95 near Forest Avenue before 4 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the road and sideswiped a guardrail, troopers said.
Troopers said Boyd tried to steer the car back onto the road, causing her to lose control of the vehicle as it veered back across the roadway and into a concrete barrier.
Both people were taken to the hospital, Boyd with critical injuries and Brooks with serious injuries. Troopers said they were not wearing their seat belts.
