ST PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) --More than $18 million worth of cocaine confiscated by the U.S. Coast Guard was offloaded in St. Petersburg Wednesday morning.

The cocaine was seized during two different busts in the Gulf of Mexico in November.

OnNov. 20, Coast Guard crews spotted a 25-foot boat in internationalwaters north of Punta de Mosquito, Panama. A Coast Guard helicopter crewarrived near the boat and saw people throwing the cocaine overboard.The helicopter fired warning shots, forcing the boat to stop. CoastGuard crews recovered 14 bales of cocaine, according to a USCG newsrelease.

On Nov. 25, Coast Guard crews spotted a 30-foot fishingboat north of Columbia in international waters. The USCG crew saw thesuspected smugglers removing packages from the boat. The USCG recovered10 bales of cocaine, according to the news release.
