ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Jennifer Beaudry and her family love their home but they fear living in their home.
"My biggest fear is that we get a drive that comes down in the afternoon and I'm in the yard with my children and one of us get hurt," said Beaudry.
Beaudry lives in the Doctor's Lake Estate community; near Bay Street and Cedar Road.
"it is terrifying," she said.
Last Friday night a truck lost control in the turn near Doctors Lake Drive and Bay street and flew through the wooded area and landed in the Beaudrys backyard.
"I was sitting on the couch watching the news and all of a sudden I heard a loud bang,' said Beaudry.
The Ford ranger hit one of the columns holding up the back porch ceiling.
"I came to the door and I noticed the vehicle was backing up and he was driving toward the house again," she said.
If this was the first or second time she may have dismissed it. But she said this has been a recurring problem and now it has become a major safety concern for her family.
"Since we have occupied the home we have had three cars land in our yard," said Beaudry. "During construction my husband had a minimum of five come through."
She said she's appeal to Clay County for help and was told there's nothing they can do; Beaudry said all she wants is a guard rail similar to the one that was installed, a few miles away, at Milwaukee and Dogwood.
"I don't understand why we can't get one here," she said.
Last Friday's accident caused damage to her home, she would like this to be the last vehicle that lands in her backyard, because the next time it could be tragic.
"We will look at the intersection,' said Jeff Beck.
Beck is Clay County Public Works director and said they have placed a number of warning signs at the Doctor's lake intersection to alert motorists and they meet the clear zone requirements in the right of way.
"As the property owners they have a right to protect themselves," he said," by installing a wall if they wanted to."
Beck admits there is something unusual about the design of the road committed to take at look at the intersection.
"We will look into the possibility of a guard rail," he said," whatever we do we will follow DOT regulations.
