University of North Florida students ask state lawmakers for tuition changes.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Students from the University of North Florida join lawmakers Wednesday to rally for higher education and changes in tuition.

UNF Student Body President Carlo Fassi said the focus will be on supporting in-state tuition for veterans and certain qualified undocumented students.

Currently, undocumented students are not eligible for in-state tuition fees in the state of Florida. Representative Jeanette Nunez, R-Miami, and Senator Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, have both filed legislation to change that.

Last week, the House passed HB 851 filed by Rep. Nunez. The bill filed by Sen. Latvala is still in committee.
