TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Every day, officers put their lives on the line and many have died during their mission to protect and serve.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers across the state took to the capitol to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.
The emotional ceremony was held in the courtyard between the old historic capitol and new capitol. It featured music, the folding of an American flag and the loved ones of those who died.
"We're here to honor them today and we're here to praise them and hopefully the state can see this and see what our great law enforcement officers do," said Pam Bondi, Florida's attorney general, who attended the event.
During the ceremony, they also honored the Florida Highway Patrol trooper killed over the weekend during a car crash on Interstate 75.
