A man was captured on surveillance video slithering through a store to steal high-end wigs that are made for cancer patients.
HOUSTON, Texas -- A high-end wig store in southwest Houston is asking for the public's help in tracking down a sneaky burglar.
The man was captured on surveillance video in the overnight hours Monday slithering through the business in the 2500 block of South Loop West Freeway.
He got in after breaking into a vacant space next door. He then punched a hole through the bathroom wall at Tiffani Chanel Luxury Hair and crawled in.
The intruder stayed down on the ground the entire time to avoid the alarm motion sensors.
"He was laying on the ground, low crawl like they do in the military," explained store manager Chanie Speller. "He's a snake. That's what they do."
Surveillance footage shows the man inching his way behind the register, crawling over to the wigs and crouching onto his knees. He was only able to reach 11 wigs on the lowest shelf and some other merchandise.
The store's owner says she was furious when she watched the video.
"He should be ashamed. That's the lowest of the low," said owner Tiffani Speller. "He's very bold and very brave and does not care."
Owner Tiffani Speller says the stolen wigs were going to be donated to a cancer makeover event in two weeks. She hopes the images of the culprit will blow the lid off of his low profile.
"It's just pathetic, a grown man stealing wigs that are designated for cancer patients. It's just ridiculous," said Tiffani Speller.
The stolen wigs are estimated to be worth more than $3,000.
Houston Police took a report Monday afternoon, and an investigation is now underway.
The owner of Tiffani Chanel Luxury Hair is also offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
