If anyone knows Florida Head Coach Billy Donovan it's his son, redshirt guard Little Billy Donovan.
ORLANDAO, Fla. – If anyone knows Florida Head Coach Billy Donovan it's his son, redshirt guard Little Billy Donovan. He transferred from Catholic University two years ago and is enjoying his first trip to the NCAA Tournament as a player.
"He's intense. He's intense," said Donovan about his father.
Making the move from the Nation's Capital to Gainesville and playing for his dad hasn't been an easy transition.
"It's been a blessing for us to come back and reconnect build our relationship," said Donovan. "In the beginning it was real weird, but now being it's my second year I'm used to it. It's my second year, I think I'm easy to coach and I'm responding to it now."
We all know Coach Donovan as a 'tell it like it is' -- competitive and fiery head coach. Donovan says his dad has jovial side away from the court and in the comfort of his home.
"He's actually a real funny guy. He cracks jokes on a lot of people if you're around him a lot," said Donovan.
Although Donovan doesn't see much if any playing time, his former high school teammate and SEC Player of the Year, Senior Guard Scottie Wilbekin says Donovan's game is much like his dads.
"He's tough. He loves to compete. He has a great three point shot," said Wilbekin. "And he loves making it on me in practice and I hate when he scores."
